The Optoscan Lite is a computer controlled scanning interface for the Radio Shack Pro 2005 and PRO 2006 scanners. The OSLite is ideal for anyone looking to enter the dynamic world of computer controlled scanning. When interfaced with a computer the OSLite takes full advantage of high speed scanning and increased memory locations.

Import FCC data into the software program of your choice and find out who all those frequencies are licensed to. Plus, because you are only limited by the amount of memory in your PC, you can have virtually an unlimited amount of memory locations. Managing those files becomes so much easier as you will have the ability to put your frequencies in separate scanning banks.

The OSLite is a very versatile PC controlled scanning system, with software support by all the popular third party programs including ScanStar, Probe, and ScanCat. Each program is different and you will want to explore the features that each of the above software vendors offer.

TECH FACTS

The Optoscan Lite board is a great way to enter the world of computer control scanning. There are really three main components to the OSLite setup.

You need to have either the PRO 2005 or PRO 2006. Since those scanners are no longer current production units from Radio Shack they will be hard to come by if you do not already have one.
The OSLite board discussed here is very easy to install.
Your scanning experience is only as good as the software you use. The above mentioned software vendors are all reputable business owners who have been writing software for various scanners for many years. Each have their own different styles and because of that, many people choose to purchase several of the programs to enjoy.
